Waldo S. Walker Professor of Biology

My students and I try to determine: (1) how natural selection shapes plant reproduction, life history, and physiology; and (2) why plant species occur where they do, rather than somewhere else. A Californian transplanted to Iowa in 1996, I seem to be reasonably well adapted to this habitat (but these pictures aren't of Iowa!). I attended Pomona College (BA) and the University of Utah (PhD), and I did postdocs at UC Berkeley and Cornell University.
